Non-stop Trains Offer Better Connectivity with Southern Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui

In 2021, Jiangsu will spare no effort to start the construction of the Hefei-Shanghai section of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu high-speed railway (the high-speed railway along the Yangtze River in the North), as well as the Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo railway, the Yancheng-Taizhou-Wuxi-Changzhou-Yixing railway, and the Jiangsu section of the Hefei-Xinyi railway. Through Lianyungang-Xuzhou railway, Qingyan railway, Yancheng-Nantong railway, Shanghai-Nantong railway and other railways, the high-speed railway channel to southern Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui will be further opened, and the time and distance will be greatly shortened.

Through the efforts of the 13th Five-Year Plan, the high-speed railway network covering the whole province has been basically completed. All the 13 cities in the province have realized an access to city-to-city high-speed railway, and the high-speed railway coverage rate at the nodes above the county level has reached about 75%. By taking advantage of this railway network, our city has achieved more than two hours' travel to Nanjing and more than three hours' travel to Shanghai. The main framework of "Lianyungang on track" has been basically formed, which strongly supports the optimization and adjustment of the transportation structure. With much progress made in the multi-tiered railway construction and integration of stations and cities will better serve the local economic and social development.

This year, our province will spare no effort to start the construction of the Hefei-Shanghai section of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu high-speed railway, also known as the north Yangtze high-speed railway, as well as the four projects of the Jiangsu section of the Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo railway, the Yancheng-Taizhou-Wuxi-Changzhou-Yixing railway, and the Hefei-Xinyi railway. Among them, Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo railway, Yancheng-Taizhou-Wuxi-Changzhou-Yixing railway, and Hefei-Xinyi railway of Jiangsu section are closely related to our city.

Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo railway starts from Nantong West Station in Nantong City, crosses the Yangtze River, passes through Suzhou City and Jiaxing City, then it crosses Hangzhou Bay and leads to Ningbo hub through Cixi City. The operation length of the whole line is 310 km, of which 301 km is newly built, with 10 stations including Nantong West, Zhangjiagang, Changshu West, Suzhou North, Fenhu, Jiaxing North, Jiaxing South, Haiyan West, Cixi and ZhuangQiao. The control project is the Cross Hangzhou Bay Railway Bridge, which is 29.2 km long and will be the world's longest cross-sea high-speed railway bridge with the highest construction standard. For Lianyungang, it will be connected to the railway through Yantong railway, which will greatly shorten the space and time distance to Zhejiang and other places after completion of the project. With the continuous integration of Shanghai-Hangzhou-Suzhou-Ningbo metropolitan area, this railway will further connect our city to the vast hinterland on both sides of Hangzhou Bay.

Yancheng-Taizhou-Wuxi-Changzhou-Yixing Railway is located on the north-south axis of Jiangsu Province. It is a fast passenger transport passage through northern, central and southern Jiangsu. It starts from Yancheng in the north, passes Yangzhou and Taizhou in the south, crosses the Yangtze River in Jingjiang, then enters Jiangyin, passes Wuxi and Changzhou and finally reaches Yixing. The designed speed is 350 km/h (250 km/h from Jingjiang to Changzhou), and the total length of the main line is 319.607 km. There are 13 stations in the whole line, including Yancheng, Anfeng, Xinghua, Zhouzhuang Town, Taizhou south, Taixing, Jingjiang East, Jiangyin, Huishan, Wuxi West, Changzhou south, Yixing West and Yixing stations. From north to south, this railway connects Qingyan, Xuyan, North Yanjiang high-speed railway, South Yanjiang intercity railway of Jiangsu, Shanghai-Nanjing intercity railway and Nanjing-Hangzhou high-speed railway and realizes interconnection. For our city, it is also an important channel to build a coastal channel to enter the transport network of Central and Southern Jiangsu to reach Zhejiang.

Hefei-Xinyi high speed railway starts from the northeast of Hefei City in Anhui Province, passes through Dingyuan County, Mingguang City, Wuhe County and Sixian County, enters Sihong County, Suqian City and Xinyi City in Jiangsu Province and connects with Lianyungang-Xuzhou high speed railway at Xinyi South Station. There are 9 stations in the whole line, including the new Hefei West Station, Badouling Station, Dingyuan East Station, Mingguang West Station, Wuhe Station, Sixian East Station, Sihong North Station, Suqian East Station and Xinyi South Station. The design speed is 350 km/h. The planned construction this year of the Jiangsu section is 109 km. Once the railway is opened, Suqian will enter the one hour traffic circle of Hefei, and it will take over two hours from Lianyungang to Hefei. This railway will also be the shortest line connecting Hefei, Xinyi, Lianyungang, Rizhao and Qingdao.
