Our city has built the first batch of standardized "Traditional Chinese Medicine Chambers"

In order to further strengthen the network of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) services in village clinics and extend the "blood transfusion line" of grassroots traditional Chinese medicine services, our city has focused on building a batch of community health service stations and high-quality "traditional Chinese medicine chambers" in village clinics since the beginning of this year. The first batch of 8 high-quality "Traditional Chinese Medicine Chambers" constructed in Haizhou District and Lianyun District is expected to be fully put into use by the end of the year. At that time, residents will be provided with suitable technical services of TCM such as TCM decoction pieces, cupping, scraping and moxibustion with no less than 5 types of TCM diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation equipment.

In July of this year, the National Health Commission and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine jointly issued the Construction Standards for Improving the Service Capacity of Traditional Chinese Medicine Centers in Community Health Service Centers and Township Health Centers and the Construction Standards for Traditional Chinese Medicine Chambers in Community Health Service Stations and Village Clinics, providing standards for improving the service capacity of TCM centers and building TCM centers in terms of spatial layout, setting up of TCM pharmacy, staffing of TCM personnel and medical treatment. In recent years, our city has taken the opportunity of implementing the "14th Five Year Plan" to enhance the service capacity of grassroots TCM, continuously improving the construction of the grassroots TCM service system. On the basis of the full coverage of TCM chambers in established township health centers and community health service centers throughout the city, we have further upgraded them, successively building 11 five-star TCM chambers, 46 four-star TCM chambers, and 43 three-star TCM chambers.

Entering the Taowan Village Clinic of Jinping Health Center in Haizhou District, the "Traditional Chinese Medicine Chamber" sign hanging on the door frame is particularly eye-catching. There is a TCM consultation room, a pharmacy and a physical therapy room in the TCM chamber, with neatly arranged beds equipped with TCM treatment equipment. Health knowledge education posters are on the wall. At present, the TCM chamber has applied suitable TCM techniques, such as scraping, cupping, moxibustion, traditional Chinese medicine application, meridian dredging, bone setting, bleeding and thread embedding. In the "TCM Chamber", village doctor Bian Guang'ai is conducting moxibustion treatment for resident Aunt Zhang. After more than half a year, Aunt Zhang's blood pressure dropped and got better. “In the past, I had to queue up at a large hospital to see TCM doctors, but now I can enjoy high-quality TCM treatment without leaving the village. It’s really great.”

The TCM diagnosis and treatment services at the "doorstep" fully leverage the advantages of TCM as "simple and inexpensive", allowing the public to enjoy high-quality TCM services near their dwelling places. In order to better meet the urgent needs of the people for TCM services, our city will vigorously promote the construction of the "Traditional Chinese Medicine Chambers". We will create standardized "Traditional Chinese Medicine Chambers" in village clinics and community health service stations with mature screening conditions in grassroots medical institutions throughout the city, gradually expand the coverage of the "TCM Chambers" throughout the city, and continuously improve the "city-county-township-village" four-level TCM service system. We’ll also effectively improve the capacity and level of grassroots TCM services and open up the "last mile" for the masses to enjoy TCM services.
