China-Europe Railway Express in Lianyungang Exceeded 800 Trains Last Year

On January 1, the X9014 China-Europe Railway Express train loaded with auto parts, household appliances, mechanical equipment and other goods started from the Sino-Kazakhstan (Lianyungang) Logistics Cooperation Base, all the way west, and it will leave Khorgos to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and other Central Asian countries. This is the first China-Europe Railway Express train in Lianyungang in 2024.

It is reported that in 2023, a total of 806 China-Europe Railway Express trains from Lianyungang were completed, a year-on-year increase of 10.7%, exceeding the annual operational target. The Sino-Kazakhstan (Lianyungang) Logistics Cooperation Base completed a total of 4.34 million tons of goods entering and exiting the warehouse throughout the year, a year-on-year increase of 3.61%; the entry and exit volume of empty and heavy containers reached 243000 TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 10%.

2023 is the tenth anniversary of the initiative of jointly building the ¡°Belt and Road¡±. As the first physical project of jointly building the ¡°Belt and Road¡±, the Sino-Kazakhstan (Lianyungang) Logistics Cooperation Base will take the advantage of the ¡°Belt and Road¡± to drive the number of China-Europe Railway Express trains to a new high. Last year, the China-Europe Railway Express in Lianyungang successfully opened up the ¡°Thailand-China (Lianyungang)-Kazakhstan¡± and ¡°Japan-China (Lianyungang)-Kazakhstan¡± commodity vehicle transit channels, promoting a more complete port supply chain service system; for the first time, the Central Asian kidney bean return train successfully passed, promoting the rapid clearance of agricultural and sideline products at the border port of Lianyungang Port; the first special train for transporting books to Central Asia was opened, accelerating the implementation of the results of the Lianyungang-Seoul International Logistics Service Promotion Conference; the successful intermodal transportation of the first ¡°China-Europe Railway Express-Lianshen Express¡± Russian aluminum ingot return special train effectively enhances the entire supply chain service capability of the ¡°China-Europe Railway Express+¡±.

In terms of joint venture cooperation, Lianyungang Port Holding Group has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Uzbekistan Railway Container Company to enhance the potential for cross-border transportation from Lianyungang to Uzbekistan; a Central Asia office was established to assist Lianyungang in expanding its bi-directional logistics hub radiation capacity; the Supply Chain Financial Strategic Cooperation Agreement, the Whole Logistics Service Strategic Cooperation Agreement, the Khorgos Land Port Cooperation Agreement, and the Sino-Kyrgyzstan Economic and Trade Logistics Strategic Cooperation Agreement were signed at the ¡°Symposium on deepening connectivity, cooperation and jointly building an international hub seaport at Lianyungang Port¡±. And the ¡°Northeast Asia Lianyungang Empty Container Service Center¡± was unveiled to further deepen the cooperation between Lianyungang and Central Asia.

On September 15th last year, the China-Europe Railway Express Cooperation Forum achieved 48 cooperation achievements, including the launch of the China-Europe Railway Express Portal, the release of the China-Europe Railway Express Full Time Schedule, the promotion of the China-Europe Railway Express Multimodal Transport Electronic Bill of Lading, the implementation of the China-Europe Railway Express Key Ports and Rear Passage Expansion and Reconstruction Project, the expansion and tonnage increase of the China-Europe Railway Express traction, etc. The role of Lianyungang¡¯s land-sea intersection and opening up to the outside world has been further amplified; Lianyungang Port Holding Group Co., Ltd. and Kazakhstan National Railway Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement on October 18 at the ¡°High Level Connectivity Sub-forum¡± of the third ¡°Belt and Road¡± International Cooperation Summit Forum in Beijing. Both sides will jointly develop the ¡°Asia Pacific countries-China-Kazakhstan¡± route, cooperate in the construction of the Aktau Port container hub in Kazakhstan, develop multimodal transportation through trans-Caspian International Transport Route, reduce transportation time and costs, improve transportation efficiency, and promote the continuous and in-depth development of the China-Europe Railway Express.

At present, there are 5 transit ports for the China-Europe Railway Express in Lianyungang, covering the main regions of Central Asia. More than 400 varieties such as food, clothing, necessities, transportation, household appliances, medicine and building materials are involved. The transit volume of specialized trains for ferroalloys, potassium fertilizers, cotton yarn and other products originating from Central Asia is leading nationwide. The new models like¡°sea-rail-air¡± intermodal transportation and ¡°bonded+export¡± mixed transportation are praised by customers as the most complete, efficient and high-quality railway express transportation model in China.
