Recently, a sea-rail intermodal train from the Pangu Temple of Henan to Lianyungang has been successfully in operation at Lianyungang Port. The main cargo carried by this train is domestic trade pebbles. With the help of the convenient channel of Longhai Railway, the goods are transported to Lianyungang in railway containers, loaded and launched at the port, and transported by sea to various ports in South China, achieving seamless connection between railway transportation, ship transportation, road short barge transportation, and other multimodal transportation. So far, our city has worked together with partners in Henan to build multiple rail-water intermodal transportation channels.

Our city has a long-standing connection with the central and western regions, and the biggest advantage in our cooperation lies in the port. In order to achieve complementary and win-win development, in recent years, Lianyungang Port has signed urban strategic cooperation agreements, continental bridge logistics alliance cooperation agreements, and strategic cooperation framework agreements for jointly building national east-middle-west regional cooperation demonstration zones with various provinces and regions in the central and western regions. Modern logistics business cooperation centered on ports has become increasingly close. In November 2021, various free trade pilot zones along the new Eurasian international land-sea intermodal transport corridor, including Lianyungang, Xi'an and etc., jointly launched the establishment of free trade pilot zone alliance of the new Eurasian international land-sea intermodal transport corridor, and carried out new exploration for jointly building and sharing the ¡°Belt and Road¡± new Eurasian land-sea intermodal transport corridor, and improving the east-middle-west cooperation mechanism.

In recent years, Lianyungang Port has continuously amplified its own advantages, strengthened strategic cooperation with the central and western regions, and focused on building a logistics pattern of north-south linkage and east-west mutual assistance, in accordance with the deployment of Jiangsu Province's ¡°integrating into the development of the Yangtze River Delta and making full use of the Longhai Line¡±. In order to create a favorable port business environment, Lianyungang Customs has taken the lead in realizing ¡°direct export and import access¡± for the central and western regions along the route.

Nowadays, relying on the Longhai Lanxin Railway, 11 provinces and autonomous regions have been included in the economic hinterland of the Port, and inland ¡°waterless ports¡± have been set up in places such as Xining, Qinghai, Houma, Shanxi, Luoyang, Henan, Xi'an, Shaanxi and Yinchuan, Ningxia. The sea-rail intermodal transportation channel basically covers the main node cities along the land bridge. Depending on the innovative advantages of free trade, Lianyungang Port continuously optimizes its services and strives to provide high-quality import and export services to central and western regions such as Shaanxi, Gansu, Henan, Shanxi, Qinghai, Ningxia and Xinjiang. It has also created a large number of import and export service brands such as coal, ore, plywood, cassava, mechanical vehicles and fertilizers.

At Lianyungang Port, coal, coke, aluminum ingots, mechanical equipment and other goods brought from the central and western regions are loaded onto ships and transported to sea. Goods such as iron ore, alumina, non-ferrous minerals, fertilizers and grains that are transported by sea from abroad are also continuously sent to the central and western regions through the Longhai Railway Line. In recent years, the cargo carried by Lianyungang Port in the central and western regions has maintained an average annual growth momentum of over 10%. Last year, the sea-rail intermodal transportation volume was about 800000 TEUs, with half of the cargo sources coming from the central and western regions.

Whether viewed from the objective laws of logistics transportation or from the emotional accumulation of historical cooperation, the central and western regions are the primary and key areas for Lianyungang Port to provide good services. Since the opening of the port 90 years ago, Lianyungang has formed a deep friendship with logistics enterprises in the central and western regions, and the space for jointly building and sharing the new Eurasian land-sea intermodal transportation channel will become wider and wider. Next, the port will focus on extending ¡°enclave¡± services, combining the industrial structure and needs for port of various regions, taking ¡°five bases, one port area, one park+inland waterless ports¡± as the cooperation area, with the aim of jointly building major corridor and sharing sea port, and making Lianyungang Port the preferred port for import and export trade in the central and western regions.
