According to the 2022 China City Foreign Trade Competitiveness Report which was recently released in China Customs by the General Administration of Customs, Lianyungang ranks 67th in the list of China's Top 100 Foreign Trade Cities.

It is reported that the selection is done by the General Administration of Customs, and the selection data is directly sourced from customs statistical data and is arranged based on comprehensive national economic data, which has high credibility and authority. The selection criteria for the top 100 foreign trade cities in 2022 include a total of 23 indicators, including foreign trade level competitiveness, structural competitiveness, efficiency competitiveness, innovation competitiveness and potential competitiveness. The evaluation system of China's urban foreign trade competitiveness indicators not only focuses on the comparison of the "scale" and "speed" of foreign trade between cities, but also pays more attention to the allocation and output efficiency of various resource elements, as well as the use of multidimensional data such as foreign trade, regional economy, port logistics and special regions.

In 2022, amidst the complex situation of the century long changes and the pandemic, our city's foreign trade imports and exports have withstood unexpected difficulties. The government and foreign trade enterprises have actively taken action and taken the initiative to respond to risks and challenges. All levels and relevant departments of the city continue to optimize policy supply, actively provide advanced services, help enterprises increase their international market development efforts, promote foreign trade transformation and upgrading, improve product quality and competitiveness and enhance enterprise development confidence. According to statistics, in 2022, our city accomplished a total import and export volume of 16.1 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 11.2%, which is 9.5 percentage points higher than the provincial growth rate. Among them, imports amounted to 10.1 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 19.4%, ranking first in the province in terms of import growth rate.

To maintain the strong momentum of foreign trade development, confidence first comes from the government's proactive actions and efforts to move forward. In recent years, our city has successively introduced a series of measures to stabilize foreign trade, such as Several Measures for Doing a Good Job in Cross-cycle Adjustment and Stabilizing the City's Foreign Trade, Lianyungang High Quality Implementation (RCEP) Action Plan and Several Policies to Support Enterprises in Expanding Markets, to optimize policy supply, help enterprises boost confidence, cope with risks, and provide protection for foreign trade enterprises to climb the slope and overcome obstacles. With the support of these policies, the city's foreign trade import and export in the first three quarters of this year reached 13.08 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 11.1%, 23.5 percentage points higher than the average growth rate in the province, ranking first in the province. From January to September, there were 1420 foreign trade enterprises with import and export performance in Lianyungang, an increase of 163 or 13% compared to the same period last year, and the number of foreign trade operators has steadily increased. There are 123 enterprises in the city with an import and export scale exceeding 10 million US dollars, with a cumulative import and export volume of 11.6 billion US dollars, accounting for 88.7% of the total import and export volume. Key enterprises with import and export enterprises exceeding 10 million US dollars are the main force for stable foreign trade development in the city.
