Our City's Agricultural Product Testing Qualification Rate Remains at 99% Tear-round

The quality and safety of agricultural products are related to the physical health and life safety of people. In order to further improve the quality and safety level of agricultural products and effectively ensure food safety and consumer safety, our city has started the establishment of a national agricultural product quality and safety city since 2016. In February 2021, our city was successfully included in the third batch of pilot units for the establishment of national agricultural product quality and safety counties (cities). After more than two years of construction, the qualification rate of agricultural product testing has been maintained at over 99% throughout the year.

In Lianyungang city, more and more citizens find out that a wide variety of agricultural products have been labeled with a commitment to meet the standards for edible agricultural products and have their own "ID card". With a quick scan by mobile phones, time to market of agricultural products, information of farmers, and inspection records of the process are all available. In the promotion of the establishment of a national agricultural product quality and safety city, various regions in our city take active part in participation and construction. With the establishment of a national agricultural product quality and safety city as the starting point, standardized production and intelligent supervision of agricultural products are vigorously promoted, and the entire supervision mechanism of agricultural products is continuously improved.

The quality and safety of agricultural products come from "production" and "regulation". In order to improve the regulatory system, agricultural product quality and safety regulatory agencies have been set up in all counties and regions of the city. Seventy-eight agricultural townships in the city have set up regulatory agencies in accordance with the "five must-have" standards (having institutions, having brands, having equipment, having teams, and having guarantees), forming a system of agricultural product quality and safety regulatory teams based on city, county and township regulatory personnel, supplemented by village level coordinators, enterprise internal controllers and social supervisors. There are 358 supervisors, 1511 village coordinators and 458 enterprise internal inspectors in all. Through the construction of "grid + precise supervision", the last mile of supervision has been consolidated, effectively solving the problems of "who will do it, what to do, and how to do" in safety supervision.

On a family farm under the trees in Huangchuan Town, Donghai County, Zhang, the farmer is testing dragon fruits that are about to be supplied to the market. After passing the testing, they will issue a quality and safety commitment certificate on their own. Generally speaking, this qualification certificate is the "ID card" of agricultural products in the market, the "commitment letter" of producers, and the "new business card" of quality and safety. “Green and high-quality agricultural products are better sold in the market, and consumers can rest assured when they eat them.” Zhang said. With this certificate, farmers can be encouraged to pay more attention to the quality of agricultural products. Although it has a certain supervision and constraint effect on farmers, it is also an affirmation of high-quality agricultural products.

It is known that in order to promote the smooth implementation of the construction, our city has set up a leadership group for the construction, led by the main leaders of the municipal government. The leaders of the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government closely focus on the construction goal, continuously strengthen organizational leadership, refine measures and highlight innovation drive. On August 30th, the assessment and acceptance team held a defense in Nanjing, and the city leaders gave a special report on-site and passed with a high score.

“Our city is a major agricultural city, and our production such as rice, live pigs, mushrooms, seaweed and seafood ranks among the top in the province and even in the country. Since the construction began, the municipal and county agricultural departments have conscientiously implemented the 'four strictest' requirements and promoted the development of the construction.” Xin, Deputy Director of the Municipal Agriculture and Rural Bureau, stated that we should view the quality and safety of agricultural products from the perspective of development and promote the transformation of our city from a big agricultural city to a great agricultural city.

At present, the number of agricultural production entities included in the provincial quality traceability platform in the city reaches 19510. Last year, 20.15 million labels were printed, achieving a 100% coverage rate for label printing for large-scale production and operation entities.
