With a long history, profound cultural heritage and rich resources, Lianyungang's unique catering culture has formed, which is featured by seafood as main characteristics, complemented by Huaiyang, Sichuan and Shandong cuisines, and with a unique local flavor of being moderately fresh and salty. A number of famous restaurants, chefs and dishes have emerged locally.

Famous Dishes and Snacks. Traditional dishes include chrysanthemum perch, jade lotus crab yellow cuttlefish ball, lotus sea cucumber, etc. A total of 22 local dishes were rated as the Jiangsu Famous Dishes at the first Jiangsu Famous Dishes, Dessert and Snacks Appraisal Meeting. Haiying vegetable shortbread and seafood multi-layer steamed bread were appraised as Famous Snacks in Jiangsu.

Traditional Snacks. Traditional snacks in Lianyungang mainly include Weifanglou Fresh Meat Wonton, Xianghe Tofu Roll, Banpu Mung Bean Jelly, Liuding Dog Meat, Tucheng Dog Meat, Ganyu Pancake, Xiaowu Cold Noodle, Baby Fish (Cold Noodle), etc.
