Lianyungang is one of the 49 key tourism cities in the country and one of three major tourism resources- rich areas in Jiangsu. Surrounded by mountains, sea, islands and harbors, it is home to scores of historical sites and three ecosystems including ocean, forest and wetland. The city has such tourism brand titles as China's Outstanding Tourist City, China's Top Ten Tourist Cities with the Best Environment and China's Best Tourist Destination. Meanwhile, it enjoys the reputations of “the Magical and Romantic City”. The city is home to 42 national A-level or above tourist scenic spots, three provincial all-region tourism demonstration areas, two national key rural tourism villages, eight provincial key rural tourism villages, three provincial tourist resorts, three provincial self- driving tour caravan camps, ten star-rated tourist hotels, 15 green hotels and 128 travel agencies. In 2022, the city issued 500,000 tourism consumption coupons and free electronic tickets, and held the 23rd Lianyungang Summer Tourism Festival and the 18th Journey to the West Cultural Festival. The Lianyungang Cultural and Tourism promotional video was played in the Winter Olympic Village and Lianyungang's tourism resources was presented in the Winter Olympics. Qinshan Island in Ganyu district was approved as a national AAAA-level tourist scenic spot, Haizhou district approved as a provincial all-region tourism demonstration zone, Lianyun district approved as the first batch of provincial demonstration zones for the integrated development of cultural and tourism industry, Erdao Street Cultural Block approved as a provincial night cultural tourism consumption gathering area, and Xinpu old-style block approved as a provincial tourism and leisure block. It received 34.11 million tourists throughout the year, achieving a total tourism income of 40.7 billion yuan.
